A Special Hokkien Treat
Golden Rice Petties, also known as “Moei Tay” in Hokkien, are a traditional snack made of rice formed into small round flat shape and fried to a golden row. They are typically crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

A Culture Heritage- The History:
It’s a story about the value of being thrifty.
Hokkien people are known for their thriftiness. Not a grain of a rice should be thrown away but every grain must be saved. Families in the past would not throw away the leftovers in the rice pot after a meal. They would save them and use them to make the golden patties the following day.
So out of this cultural trait come the Golden Rice Patties to whet your appetite!
