Macalister Mansion usually gives people the impression of prestige and elegance, be it dining or accommodation. However, that is not always true. In fact, dining at Macalister Mansion can sometimes be inexpensive. I have always been hunting for good and reasonable breakfast. This time, you will be surprised that Macalister Mansion is offering reasonable breakfast sets.
There are many dining sections in Macalister Mansion. The serving of healthy breakfast and reasonably-priced breakfast is at the Living Room.
The hundred-year-old mansion has been restored into a heritage mansion using white as its theme colour.
Scottish Bagel – RM18. Smoked Salmon, Dill Cream Cheese, Fresh Green and Cherry Tomato.
One of the most affordable breakfast sets that I will be going back for. The slices of salmon covered the base of the homemade bagels. The hot-from-the-oven bagels had a nice aroma of black sesame seeds. Serving together with it were some cherry tomatoes, olives and lettuces. All these ingredients complemented each other perfectly.
Classic Mushroom Omelette – RM16. Homemade Hashbrown, Herb Crushed Tomato, Gruyere Cheese Toast and a two Eggs Half Moon Mushroom Omelette
This omelette had a very nice aroma. It contained mushrooms which gave some bite-texture. The herb crushed tomato is a really healthy and great seasoning for the omelette. The slight saltiness of the Gruyere cheese toast was a delicious serving with the hashbrown.
MM’s Nasi Lemak – RM16. Nasi Lemak serving with Sambal, Cucumber, Fried Chicken, Toasted Peanuts and Anchovies.
Who can miss out Nasi Lemak in Malaysia’s breakfast scene? It has been listed in Time Magazine’s Top 10 International Healthy Breakfast Offerings. This local breakfast delight has been improvised to be even healthier at MM. Instead of using the thick coconut milk, they use their own formulation that is healthier and lighter. Serving together with it were delicious sambal, peanuts, anchovies, sunny side up egg and a piece of fried chicken.
The Grand Breakfast – RM25. Chicken Sausage, Streaky Bacon, Mushroom, Herb Crushed Tomato, Homemade Hashbrown, Smoked Peppers, Fresh Greens, Toast and Your choice of Eggs.
The serving of the great breakfast is very standard. The options are a lot but the portion is little. To me, I feel this dish is healthy. Looking at the price, if only they would increase the portion it will be perfect.
“Kopitiam” Breakfast – RM12. Soft Boiled Eggs serving with Kaya and Butter Toast.
No doubt the selling point of this set is the homemade toasts. However, the portion of the toasts is a bit small and with 2 soft boiled eggs selling for RM12 is not what I would expect. It would be great if they could add 2 more slices of toasts and some fresh greens.
For all daily special selection breakfast set, it will come with a cup of coffee. If you are particular coffee lover, you can top up with a cost for your choice of coffee such as cappucino or latte.
Overall, the food served here were healthy and delicious. Certain options of the breakfast sets here were reasonable and exceptionally good in taste. The private car parks here are FREE and the ambiance here is very cosy.
