Living Room, Macalister Mansion – Cozy Ambiance for Lunch & Tea Time

Macalister Mansion usually gives people the impression of prestige and elegance, be it dining or accommodation. However, that is not always true. In fact, dining at Macalister Mansion can sometimes be inexpensive. At Living Room of Macalister Mansion, the food is reasonable in pricing and good in taste.

Located along the historic Macalister Road, Macalister Mansion promises a quirky and sophisticated new lifestyle destination to relax and unwind.Set amidst a lovingly restored colonial mansion that was built in the early 1900s, Macalister Mansion invites everyone to embark with their luxuriously new boutique hotel adventure in the heart of Georgetown, Penang.

Encompassing all day dining and casual space to hang out, Living Room offers a delectable selection of local cuisine and international flavors. Set within a playful and colorful theme, diners can also enjoy pastries with a wide selection of beverages.

Kicking start this Lunar New Year of 2020, Macalister Mansion is introducing the irresistible Fish Head Curry served with Roti Prata for diners to indulge. It is currently priced at RM48 nett.

The head of the Seabass is stewed in chef’s Kerala-style curry with assorted vegetables in the likes of okra and eggplant. The Roti Prata is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Fans of fish head curry can now look forward to a palate pleasing meal in the Living Room.

This casual dining place for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea is perfect for guests to unwind with family and friends in the day or to seal that important business deal. Check out their signature menu from the Italian Specialty, the Aglio Olio.

For the local delight Nasi Lemak Ayam Rempah which the chicken thigh is skillfully fried until the skin is deliciously crispy but retains the juiciness of the meat, complemented by the homemade sambal, toasted peanut, hard-boiled egg, cucumber and ikan bilis.

For a fusion cuisine, the Plate category suggests Grilled Chicken with Percik Sauce, Barramundi

and Teriyaki Burger which comes with a choice of Australian beef or chicken patty to go with cheddar cheese, Teriyaki glaze, vegetables and grilled pineapples.

The Red Wine Beef Stew is the highlight of the show with its delicious braised beef brisket served with bread.

Besides the dishes above, the Laksa Pasta is also one of the delightful fusion collection which is still in the midst of improvising to give diners the best taste.

Pasta lovers will find Kam Heong tantalizing on the menu. Kam Heong is a signature Malaysian stir-fry style that is renowned for the aroma infused during the cooking process. One can taste the flavour of the fiery bird’s eye chillies with aromatic curry leaves, crispy bits of dried shrimp, curry powder and soy bean paste. Kam Heong pasta is served with Tiger prawns to please your tastebuds.

The Living Room also offers set lunch during weekdays from 12pm – 3pm. Guests can select any main course from the menu and just add-on RM7 to make it a set lunch to enjoy the soup of the day and a dessert.

Some side dishes and snacks are also available including Nyonya Fried Chicken Wings, Chicken Satay, Fried Calamari, French Fries, Croque Madame and Truffle Mashed Potato.

After a delightful meal, these delicacies can be best ended with an incredible range of in-house Specialty Drinks such as Irish Coffee, Coffee By The Beach, Hojicha Latte, Daniel’s Favourite and Dessert Latte or freshly pressed juices, smoothies, coffees, cool soda, non-caffeinated beverages as well as TWG teas. IntroducingR Living Room’s drinks of the month, the latest chilled peachy treat featuring Iced Peach Latte and Peach & Blueberry Smoothie that blends perfectly for a refreshing glass of thirst quencher.

There are also selections of cakes for the sweet tooth out there. Pick your favourites including Hojicha Cheese Cake, Chocolate Brownies topped with a scoop of Vanilla ice-cream and Pandan cake with grated coconut drizzled with Gula Melaka syrup. Or choose the cute palm-sized Sleeping Teddy mousse cake which comes in brown and white. There are also petite mirror-glazed cakes that are too cute to resist.

Besides that, guests can also indulge in a relaxing afternoon tea session with family and friends with their three-tiered Afternoon Tea with TWG tea labels for two at RM98 nett.

 

Overall, Living Room offers a nice ambience to dine at. The taste of certain food here is nice especially the Kam Heong pasta and Red Wine Stew Beef which are my favorites. These dishes will be my in my order list when I visit next time.
