It’s another year of Fasting Month “Bulan Ramadhan” for all Muslims around the world. During this month Muslims will fast for the whole month in order to purify and cleanse their body and soul. The fasting of the day will only end at dusk when the announcement is made and prayer is done. At this time the end of the fasting day is called “Buka Puasa”.
After the whole day of fasting, you might want to treat yourself like a Super Star and recharge yourself as much as possible for the next day fasting. Starting from 9th July till 9th August 2013, Hard Rock fans can look forward to a buka puasa feast with great mixture of appetizers, main courses and desserts at the Starz Diner.
For those who had previously followed my post, you will surely know the location of Hard Rock Hotel, Batu Ferringhi. For those who are still not sure, you can always visit my previous post at: http://www.stevengoh.com/rock-hard-hard-rock-batu-ferringhi-penang/
The Rock Platter is the signature dish at Starz Diner, the platter consists of red cooked chicken, tupelo chicken tenders, grilled mini beef quesadilla, mini rendang pulled chicken sandwich, Hickory-smoked barbeque chicken, tomyum linguine with onion rings and tomato rice. The platter is served with soup of the day, local drinks, dates and dessert. The price of the platter is RM120++, it is enough for 2 pax sharing.
The price for Bintang Rock Buffet is reasonable, at RM68++ per adult and RM34++ per child (4 – 12 years old) and it is available from 6:30 pm until 10:30 pm daily. For every booking of 10 diners, the 11th person gets to eat for free.
Among the buffet spread includes the very appetizing Kerabu (Malay Style Salad), Keropok Lekor (Malay Style Fish Cake), Keropok Udang (Prawn Crackers) and Keropok Sayur (Veggie Crackers).
In addition, Bubur Lambuk (Malay Style Congee) and Sup Soto Ayam (Spiced Chicken Soup) with Benggali Bread are also served at the series of Ramadhan Buffet.
If the list above still does not satisfied your crave, there are more dishes made purposely for you. These include Roti Canai, Satay, Penang Laksa and Ais Kacang.
After the long battling of the filling, hot and spicy dining, you might want to find some refreshment and recovery for desserts and fresh cut fruits. There are traditional Kuih-Muih (Local Malay Kuih), Bubur Pulut Hitam (Hot Black Glutinous Porridge) and other desserts such as Coconut Panna Cotta with Mango Chutney, Strawberry Cheese Cake, Pear Almond Tart, Chestnut Dark Chocolate Mousse and Bread Butter Pudding.
Overall, the taste of the food is great and the style of cooking is very much catered for Ramadhan period. The food generally covered a lot of spices and spiciness which are not really my style. Still for those who can’t live without hot and spicy food, this is the place you need to visit.
