Have you ever tried eating laksa together with fine dining dishes? Obviously, it is hard to blend these two together. However, if the mixture done well, these 2 dishes are a fusion of fine dining. The same concept goes to the recent launch high street fashion “Taste of Fashion” and nostalgic “Penang On 6” at Gurney Paragon, which has proven to be a success.
The launching of “Taste of Fashion” on 17th April 2014 marked the start of Gurney Paragon’s first inaugural Spring Summer 2014 Fashion Week (17-19 April 2014).
The theme of the fashion show covered 4 different flavours which are sweet, sour, bitter and spicy. Do check out more on the fashion shows to be held at the alfresco area of the Festive Square (Gurney Drive entrance).
During the launching day there were VIPs from various aspects, from fashion, food, to management and exco members.
The launch was kicked off with delightful songs from a local band.
For those who love wine, Wamssler is the sparkling wine with variety of flavours.
The wine for that night was free-flow.
The entertainment included a few Chinese Opera figures.
Finger food were served all night long during the launch.
The speech from YB Danny Law Heng Kiang, Penang State EXCO for Tourism Development and Culture, marked the launch of “Taste of Fashion” at Gurney Paragon.
Almost 40 international and local brands delivered their latest collections, modeled by glamorous international models.
Some of the featured collections included brands like Canali, Tumi, La Martina, Debenhams and Adidas Performance.
Others included Laicitoo Collection, Bebe Butterfly, Brands Outlet, Cotton On, Dressing Paula, Jelly Bunny, Ecco, FILA, My Dream Wedding, Naraya, Hush Puppies, Padini Concept Store and Dennie Yeap.
Many other brands like Puma, Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club, Missha, SanD’s, Dovey Diary, Samsung, Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club, Rabeanco, Red’s Revenge, United Colors of Benetton, Venessa Diamond, ISUI Boutique and more were included in the fashion show.
On the other hand, Gurney Paragon also marked the launching of “Penang On 6” which coincided with “Taste of Fashion“.
Penang On 6 is a nostalgic hangout spot with its concept revamped by Dr. Eric Leong, a bold and stylish celebrity interior designer cum principal of The One Academy.
The new “Penang on 6” is designed to match the retro-style of Penang in the 70’s. It is designed with colourful bulbs, huge font signages, old-school handmade collectibles and kopitiam’s.

Starting this coming 19 April 2014, there would be a routine themed Retro Saturdays from 2.00pm until 10.00pm. Visitors can roam freely within this nostalgic chamber to seek interesting stuff such as old collectibles, unique fashion & accessories, handicrafts, workshop stalls and more.
Currently, there are two ongoing promotions in Gurney Paragon Mall for the month of April 2014. For all purchases above RM30 in the mall from Monday to Friday, you would get to park your car for free.
On top of that, you would also get to redeem cash vouchers or products for certain amount spent in the mall. Coming this May, there are more surprises awaiting shoppers in their Shop & Redeem campaign.
