Gravity Rooftop, G Hotel – A Sensory Overload

Gravity, in physics term it is something logic and explainable. However, the GRAVITY that I am talking here is fun and irrational – fun place with irrational promotions. Well, this is what I meant after a few glasses at Gravity, G Hotel, Penang.

Perched on the 24th floor of G Hotel Kelawai, Gravity boasts a spellbinding skyline view with 360-degree panoramic view of the island, covering lush greenery of the hill to George Town, and stretching all the way to the iconic Penang Bridge with a mesmerizing sunset scenery to boot.

This splended and natural outdoor bar is located just beside the pool of G Hotel Kelawai.

Rainbow Margarita – RM38

As the sun sets, let the Rainbow Margarita brighten up your night and continue the party under the stars. It is G Hotel signature cocktails which is inspired by the colors of rainbow. Each shot brings different hues and flavors to the table.

Finger Licking Good Snacks and Food:

Cured Salmon Carpaccio – RM38. Thinly sliced house marinated fresh salmon with capers, baby arugula salad and yuzu vinaigrette. The fresh slices of salmon were so juicy and appetizing when served with yuzu vinaigrette.

Smoked Cheesy Sausage Pizza – RM28. Served with specially made pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and arugula salad. The thin and crispy pizza base that topped with cheesy sausage could easily be a crowd favourite.

Meat Fantasy Pizza – RM28. Another thin crust pizza topped with pepperoni, chicken slices, beef slices with mozzarella cheese. As the name suggested, this is perfect for meat lovers.

Chiang Mai Sausage – RM28. The grilled homemade spicy chicken sausage with rose apple salad and spicy “nam prik” chili dip. This HOT and SPICY sausage was served with HOT sauce, no wonder it is named as Chiang Mai Sausage.

  • Crispy Chips & Pico De Gallo- RM18. Crispy corn chips with homemade tomato and cilantro salsa.
  • Salt & Pepper Fries – RM18, the deep fried shortening potato with salt and pepper.
  • Twisted Fries- RM18, This is twisted type of fries with chilli sauce and tomato ketchup.

Korean Style Chicken Drumlet – RM28, the marinated chicken drumlets sautéed with spicy gochujang paste and sesame seeds. It tasted succulent on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The combination of sweet and spicy with crunchy texture was very addictive.

Gravity Burger – RM38. Burger made of brioche, beef or chicken patty, egg, coleslaw and grilled spicy pineapple. This is one of the signature dishes here at Gravity.

“Ham-Dan” Chicken Slider – RM28. Mini burgers covered with (Chicken Lava), juicy chicken patties with molten salted egg yolk (Ham-Dan is the Cantonese equivalent of salted egg) served with coleslaw. The juicy chicken patties that covered with molten salted egg yolk is something special and tasty.

Prawn on Toast – RM28, The deep fried prawns coated with egg and served with ebiko mayo. The look and taste is similar to deep fried tofu. However the taste was packed with seafood flavor and tasted good.

Tuna Croquette – RM28, Japanese breaded potato croquettes topped with cucumber, tuna mayonnaise and quail egg. Surprisingly, this potato croquette with tuna and quail egg was cleverly combined to make the otherwise very normal potato croquette more outstanding.

Sichuan Dumpling – RM28, Handmade chicken dumplings served with spicy sichuan sesame dressing, scallions and chilli flakes. Spicy yet delicious are the words that I can use to describe this dish.

Spiced Lamb Filo – RM28, Spiced lamb keema wrapped in filo pastry served with mint chutney. The looks like deep fried spring rolls but the lamb filling was nice and it enhanced the overall taste of this dish.

Beef Meatball – RM28, Homemade meatballs in spicy tomato sauce served with toasted baguettes. After having the meatballs, the baguettes can be used to dip in the spicy tomato sauce to complete your meal.

Chilli Soft-Shell Crab – RM48, served with Thai “kerabu” salad.

Gravity Charcuterie – RM68, chef’s selection of foie gras pate, jumbo sausage, smoked duck breast, chicken roulade and pickles. This is another dish for meat lovers, but the highlight here is the foie gras pate.

Flaming Lamborghini – RM48 is one of G-Hotel’s special drinks to be ordered for birthday guests. It was blended with Kahlua, Sambuca, Blue Curacao Liqueur and Bailey’s. This is the final add on for those that have not had enough of the Gravity theories.

Overall, this place is great to hang out and chill out with when you are with a gang of friends or just want to have a relaxing moment. The food here was great and other than all the cocktails served here, there is also Wine O’Clock promotion at only RM75nett per person per hour for free flow of red and white wines. Open 7 days a week, the bar begins service at 5pm until 1 am. Reservations are highly recommended.
