In this coming Lunar New Year when we are ushering for the year of Fire Monkey, Gartien is coming out with a new package for its signature pineapple cakes. Instead of the usual oriental design, this year they have come out with cute Monkeys design to usher the year of Monkey. It is an ideal gift to be given away to friends and relatives.
Pineapple sounds like 旺来 in Hokkien. It means that prosperity, luck and fortune are coming in streams.
Inside the box there are 8 nicely and individually wrapped pineapple cakes. The packing is classy and the individually wrapped cakes are kept fresh in their specially designed plastic wraps.
Gartien’s pineapple cake is a proud Penang produce. Right from the planting of pineapples until the harvesting, baking and packaging of the cake. Another nice thing about the cake of Gartien is that the cake is low in sugar level with no artificial flavouring or colouring.
The combination of the pineapple filling with its buttery tart is perfect. The filling was slightly sourish with a tad of natural sweetness. On the other hand, the tart was not too rich in butter taste. It is a perfect match.
Overall, I like Gartien’s healthy version of pineapple cakes as the ingredients and the process of its production can be trusted. It was neither too sweet nor too rich in taste. More information: http://on.fb.me/1QKdrj8
