G Hotel, Tree Bar – A Great Place to Chillout

G Hotel has organized a fun activity – Cocktail Making Contest together with Penang’s media and food bloggers to share with the public and fellow readers on special cocktails served at Tree Bar.

In this challenge, bloggers were required to make 2 cocktails which are Mojito and Cranberry Margarita. The contest started off with the bartender doing a demonstration on how to make the Mojito, a concoction of rum and soda muddled with lime, brown sugar, and mint leaves that gave that sweet and sour taste and Cranberry Margarita, a concoction of Tequila, Triple Sec, Lime juice and Cranberry juice.

As you can see I was one of the contestants who participated in the competition. Unfortunately I am not a talented barista therefore I did not win this contest. Nevertheless, I was grateful to be able to learn how to make cocktails.

G Hotel continues to trend set the hospitality sector with their new hip hangout spot, Tree Bar. Opened on the 19th June 2014, this bar is one of the coolest hangout spots in Penang serving the best beers and bites in town. Apart from the list of chilled beers and cocktails, they serve mouth-watering food to either pair with your drinks or enjoy on its own.

Nachos – RM 16, a common and addictive starter when chilling out with friends. This is something that goes well with a nice cold beer.

Siu Mai – RM 14, unlike Nachos, Siu Mai is not commonly found on the menu in regular pubs or bars. However at Tree Bar, they serve hot and steamed Siu Mai which is something unique.

Sausage Puff – RM 14, this is a classic and very common dish. Sausages were wrapped in puffs and baked. Serving together with the puffs is chili sauce. This is a must have finger food for drinkers.

Chicken Rolls – RM 14, this is a resemblance of “Loh Bak” which have been replaced with chicken meat instead of pork meat. The crispiness of the skin goes well with the juicy chicken meat.

Seafood Pizza – RM 32, the pizza is made of tuna, mussels and shrimps and covered with onions, pineapple and creamy cheese . The crispy crust has made the pizza appetizing and less heavy.

Chicken Katsu – RM 32, Japanese-influenced deep fried chicken with a golden and crispy crust served with cabbage, carrot and coriander. The katsu sauce is an excellent complement to the dish.

Crab Cakes – RM 32, the crunchy deep fried crab cakes stuffed with crab meat and served together with hot and extra spicy sauce. This sauce is specially dedicated to those who enjoy very spicy sauce.

Gyoza – RM 22, Japanese gyoza tasted so soft and juicy.

Vegetable Sping Rolls – RM 12, this is known as “poh piah chee” in Chinese, it is a deep fried spring roll stuffed with carrot and yam bean. This dish is nice to go with beer.

Buffalo Wings – RM 32, deep fried chicken wings with fresh celery and carrot sticks and served with cheese sauce. The crispy chicken wings tasted great when dipped in cheese sauce.

Mozzarella Stick – RM 22, deep fried mozzarella sticks with Mexican garlic salsa and extra virgin olive oil. The rich and aromatic mozzarella cheese sticks were added with some garlic salsa and extra virgin olive oil to give it an extra boost in flavour.

Overall, this place is an ideal place for a drink or two and to have some finger food. Its wooden bar and open-air concept makes it so chilling and cozy . The taste of the food here was good and the price of the food and beverages here was comparatively affordable.
