Black Kettle, Georgetown – A Cozy Cafe with Nice Food – Steven Goh's Penang Food and Penang Lifestyle

Black Kettle cafe has been around for sometime. However, this place still has its charms that make diners keep going back to the cafe. Located at the central of Georgetown Penang, the cafe is along Beach Street.

Providing a cozy and homey ambiance that serves nice food and coffee, Black Kettle is the place for those that would like to take a rest or have a great meal in a comfortable ambiance. Besides the food and beverages, Black Kettle is also famous with their pastries. As you can see the pastries are almost sold out most of the time.

Carbonara Smoked Duck – RM28, Smoked Duck Slices, Carbonara Cream, Egg Yolk, Speghetti Parmesan Cheese & Fresh Egg Yolk, Cracked a la minute.

Even though this dish is not the signature here, yet the taste of this dish was simply delicious. The fresh eggs yolk made the pasta creamy when mixed together. On the other hand, the taste of the smock duck slices were tender and packed with aroma.

Chicken Chop – RM24. Bread Crumbed Chicken Chop, Sunny Side Up Egg & Puffy Fries, BK Chop Sauce.

The texture of the batter was so crunchy and crispy while the meat was very juicy. Adding with the home mixed sauce that packed with green beans, carrots and corns, it was a great dish for chicken chop lovers. It was served with a sunny side up and some fries. The portion of this chicken chop was really big and fulfilling.

Mushroom Trio – RM22. Spaghetti Aglio Olio, Garlic & Chili Flakes, Sauted Mixed Mushrooms, Parmesan Cheese, English Parsley.

This dish is dedicated for the vegetarians and kids. The al-dente spaghetti tasted simple yet delicious with the sauteed mushrooms. The dish was finished with generous portions of parmesan cheese powder which made this dish slightly savoury.

Overall, the food here was above average and the portion for the food was generous. The price of the food was similar to other cafes within the vicinity, which is slightly above average. The only drawback is the lack of parking space.
