One of the very few restaurants that has a Michelin-rated star in Penang is PUTIEN.
PUTIEN is a beautiful coastal suburb in Fujian, China with rich cultural history and storied tradition since its settlement over almost one and a half millennium ago. The Putien Group of Restaurants is named after that place and it is also originated from there.
In conjunction with the season of Duotou Clams, PUTIEN is having a full menu of Duotou Clam dishes.
Duotou Clam has its origin from Duo Tou village in Putien City. Villagers have been breeding clams for generations with over 600 years of history. Not only renowned for being the breeding grounds of the China’s finest of the China’s finest clams, Duo Tou village is also the designated supplier for PUTIEN.
Duo Tou mud is a type of rare black mud that is high in nutrients, very pure and contains no sand particles. The clams bred are nourished by these abundant nutrients and hence are especially plump and meaty, can grow up to 5 – 6cm in length.
Duo Tou villages have higher salinity level than other regions, hence making the clams especially fresh and sweet to conquer discerning taste buds.

This dish was both spicy and savory. It is a great dish to be served with some wine or beer.
Overall, the food here is excellent. The clams are freshly imported from DUOTOU breeding grounds and the taste still remains fresh when served on the table. The price of the food here is slightly on the high side due to its Michelin-star status. The ambience and service are good and there is semi-private dining area at the top of the restaurant.
