IS Sayang Cafe is a small cafe/stall located along Jalan Batu Ferringhi and yet it is easily missed by most of us who frequently passed by the main road in Batu Ferringhi.
IS Sayang Cafe is located next to the bus station of Batu Ferringhi (beside Sri Sayang serviced apartment) and is well-hidden under the trees.
IS Sayang Cafe starts operating at 7:30am until their last pack of nasi lemak is sold off, which is usually around 5pm. This cafe is closed on Sundays.
The famous food in this cafe is Nasi Lemak (coconut milk rice). There are few types of nasi lemak here. The common type of nasi lemak here is with anchovies and egg. The next common one is the fried fish with egg and followed by shrimps. Each nasi lemak is priced at RM1.20.
The seating area under the tree was shady and cooling. Although the weather was scorching hot, it didn’t feel hot sitting in that area at all.
If you are lucky enough, there will be some macaques to accompany you.
There are also some squirrels dropping by for some snacks.
Nasi Lemak with Ikan Bilis (Anchovies) and Egg – RM1.20
The taste of the rice with coconut milk was very fragrant and the best part was the sambal (chili paste) which was spicy and slightly sweet. Usually the taste of the sambal will be the key of determining the taste of the nasi lemak.
Nasi Lemak with Udang (Shrimps) – RM1.20
The sambal for nasi lemak shrimp was not as good as compared to the one with anchovies. The sweetness level of this sambal was higher and not as aromatic as the anchovies version.
Overall, the nasi lemak here tasted excellent and price was reasonable. You will need to slow down when approaching Sri Sayang apartment to be able to see the stall.
