In Penang, it is rare to find a place that serves pork and wine together in a mall. Now, there is a new place which was recently opened to serve these two delicacies under the name S.WINE.
S.Wine has taken over the place which was previously Plan B. Located at the prime area, Ground Floor of Queensbay Mall, the slogan of this restaurant is “Don’t Go Bacon My Heart”.
Some interesting and catchy quote shared on the menu of S.Wine, “Every day, thousands of innocent plants are killed by vegetarian, help end the violence – Eat bacon.”
The salad was very appetizing and had a great combination of sweetness from the lychee and watermelon, and saltiness from the pieces of pork.
The salad tasted great when mixed with zesty pomelo and sourish mango to overcome the meaty pork neck slices.
Chargrilled Jerk Pork Belly – RM30.00, the pork belly was grilled and served with homemade sauce and salad.
The tenderness of the belly was perfect and tasted good with its homemade white sauce.
This looks like a typical German-style sausage dish. It tasted rich and fulfilling.
Bacon and Salted Egg Carbonara – RM 26.00, the pasta was mixed with salted egg in carbonara sauce and topped with slices of bacon.
This is one of my favorites. I like the salted egg flavor which blended with the creamy carbonara sauce. Serving together were slices of bacon. This was an excellent dish.
This is a fusion dish. The style of the minced meat is like Hakka style of cooking but instead of using Hakka noddle, it has been substituted with spaghetti. This dish was also prepared using stir-fry method. This is also another one of my favourite dishes here.
This is like a happy family kind of meal as most families will order a burger dish if there is one available. The highlight of this burger is the juicy pork patty and the melting cheese. Combining it with the crispy bacon it gave a satisfying feel.
The satay that served with pork meat is not easy to get in Penang. This is one of the few places in Penang that you can eat pork satay.
No doubt their barbecue ribs is the signature dish here at S.Wine, it does not make it any different from other restaurants that offer similar item.
This is another unique dish offered at S.Wine. The usual creme brulee comes with plain custard in vanilla, chocolate or green tea flavour. However, at S.Wine they served a plain creme brulee with a bacon instead. This is a great finishing for a sweet desert as the bacon is slightly salty. This is a nice innovation.
This is a traditional Malaysian dessert. This bubur cha cha was slightly diluted and suitable for those seeking for a less-heavy version of dessert.
Overall, the food was very unique and innovative. The daring step taken by S.Wine to create several fusion dishes turned out to be good and well-received by the public. The price of the food here is slightly on the high side.
