Savouring a fresh catch is always a great enjoyment especially when it is fresh from the ocean. However, eating seafood with cutlery is always the challenging part, especially prawns with shells on. In restaurants, if you are sitting with a group of people who uses cutlery to peel shells from seafood while you are the one using hands, you will be the odd one.
Fortunately, this awkward situation will not happen at The Bungalow at Lone Pine Hotel as it is now serving Crabby Claws Seafood, whereby guests will be able to enjoy seafood with hands.
Details of the delicious-looking seafood and The Bungalow’s surrounding are shown in the video below.
A glimpse of the fresh catch.
Staff were preparing preparing grilled fish in front of guests.
There are three types of sauce to pair with the seafood:
- Indonesian Curry
- Kam Heong
- Sweet & Sour
For those who love hot and spicy, you can opt for Kam Heong or Indonesian Curry. If you are afraid of spiciness, there is always the ‘sweet and sour’ sauce for you.
My personal preference is the Indonasian Curry, in which it was not too spicy and packed with aroma of herbs.
The grilled fish “Ikan Bakar” was packed with aroma and tasted fresh. It came with with a dipping sauce which paired very well with the fish.
The best moment is to enjoy good food while looking at sunset.
This is the way to truly enjoy seafood with hands, of course plastic gloves are provided.

Overall, the catches were fresh. The Indonesian Curry really spiced up my day. The Kam Heong and Sweet & Sour sauces still have room for improvement.
Special thanks to Patrick Soon for the beautiful photos.
