One of the oldest Chinese heritage hotel to be listed in Malaysia is 1881 Chong Tian Cultural Hotel. This hotel has preserved its looks and glories from 130 years ago. 1881 Chong Tian had been through many tough and wonderful years and it had also gone through numerous rounds of maintenance and restoration work which made it up and standing until today. Back in those days, Chong Tian Hotel was built for merchants and traders who came to Penang harbour for trading and business.
1881 Chong Tian Cultural Hotel has successfully given its visitors the experience of Chinese ancestral lifestyle. Upon stepping into this hotel, it felt like the clock had turned back to the pre-war times of Penang.
The grand and elegant entrance to the lobby which has a beautiful chandelier hanging on the center and antique furnitures making the impression of Chinese culture.
The picture of Chinese Ancestors who was a high-ranking officer during Qing’s Dynasty.
The golden dragon and phoenix carvings symbolizes the Imperial of Chinese culture.
The impressive Ming Yuan Meeting Hall is an epitome of a magnificent hall of antiquity that stands different among the rest.
Measuring at 1000 sqf, the hall accommodates a crowd of up to 60 people, and is a top choice for business meetings and conferences alike.
Each of the hotel rooms is elegantly designed and furnished with 19th century antiques and private collection of the hotel owners. The guests will get to experience the luxury lifestyle of living in the 19th century of Penang.
The circular design of the arch that was built from those days.
Waterfall landscape that was sitting in the living hall made this place cozy and relaxing.
Another attraction of this place is the dining area.
The food served are mostly exclusive Chinese food which is said to be almost similar to imperial dining from those days.
Besides the great Chinese food, they offer fine-dining western food as well.
Overall, this is a nice place to visit, stay and dine. The theme of the hotel and restaurant is unique as it brings back memories of the pre-war days of Penang. The food is more into exclusive Chinese and Western dining.
