For those staying in Penang, “I Mum Mum” this word should be familiar to you. “I mum mum” can be translated as “I like to eat” or I Mum Mum Pan Mee Stall. There are many branches of I Mum Mum Pan Mee Stalls in Penang. Despite all the other brunches, the original main stall at Pangkalan Weld has the oldest history and the taste of the pan mee here is one of the best in town.
Be it weekday or weekend, this stall is always full of crowd and we were always seated out of the shop.
In order to get the right taste, the type of noodle needs to be select from below:
- Thick and flat noodle type
- Thin and slim type
- Hand slice type
For those who have a bigger appetite, you may order some side dishes such as dumplings, minced meat, anchovies, meat ball and crispy pork.
You can see the staffs had never stopped working for even 1 second.
Spicy Pan Mee – RM3.70(Small), RM4.20(Big), the pan mee was served with fish pan cake slices, black fungus slices, anchovies and dried chili flakes. It was then sided with sambal and half piece of lime.
Obviously, the name already said it all. It is a spicy type of noodle. The nice thing about this dish is the deep fried fish cake slice which blended in very well with the chili flake and also the black fungus slices. Although this dish is not my cup of tea due to the overwhelming feel of chili flakes, for those that enjoy spicy food it really spices up your day.
Crispy Pork Pan Mee – RM4.30(Small), RM4.80(Big), the pork slices were deep fried and coated with homemade barbecue sauce and sprinkled with sesame and spring onion. It was served together with veggie slices and black fungus. The serving of sambal for this dish is so much different from the one for spicy noodle.
This is their signature dish. The pork slices were succulent with a taste of sweetness. The aroma of the pork slices mixed very well with the sesame seeds. Just by the look of this dish, it is already irresistible. This dish is made for kids as well.
Overall, the food of this place is nice and the price is reasonable. The drawback of this place is the surrounding seats outside this place are a little less hygienic and it is not too easy to find parking here as well.
