Miam Miam Cafe Restaurant, Gurney Paragon – Elegant Fusion Cuisine

Miam Miam means Yum Yum in French. It means delicious and delightful. For those who have no idea what is meant by Miam Miam like myself, you can Google for the answer. Anyway, besides being the meaning for yummy and delicious, Miam Miam is also a French mix Japanese Fusion Cuisine Cafe Restaurant in  St Jo’s, Gurney Paragon.

Miam Miam Cafe Restaurant is established since 2013. Umm….. not too far down the road. However, this is a very fresh newborn restaurant. It is not hard to locate this restaurant. If you are at the front entrance of Gurney Paragon via Gurney Drive, Miam Miam Restaurant is at the front right wing beside Ben’s.

The outer look of the restaurant is kind of classic with wooden wall layout.

The interior decor also feels like refurbished old cafe.

The dining area has the design of eastern and oriental fusion. It is cozy and intimate.

The picture below does not require me to explain further. The food here is hand-made from scratch daily.

Iced Matcha Latte w/ softee – RM12.80, the iced Japanese green tea is prepared with fresh milk, topped with matcha softee ice cream and sprinkled with some green tea powder.

The Iced Matcha Latte is one of the signatures here. The latte was filled with first grade “matcha” (finely milled Japanese green tea). The taste of the matcha was not too overwhelming as it was balanced up with fresh milk. The softee ice cream was soft and creamy. Every bite is filled with delightful matcha flavour.

Hot Matcha Latte – RM10.80, the milk green tea is prepared in hot version. It is then steamed until the tea is hot and foamy and it is also topped with some green tea powder.

For those who are unable to take cold drinks like myself, the hot version of matcha is also as good as the iced one. The aroma of the matcha was refreshing and the texture was as smooth as silk. It feels so nice to drink it especially on cold rainy days.

French Lobster Bisque Pasta – RM29.80, the gravy was cooked with seafood (lobster) stock, carrots, celery, tomatoes and corns. It is then filled with tomato, celery and mushroom cubes. On top of the pasta, the cheese powder was sprinkled generously. Finally, topped with 3 large pieces of shrimps which completes the meal.

The taste of the soup was like seafood chowder. There were no lobsters in this dish. In fact, the taste of the lobster was within the soup itself. The shrimps were very fresh while the soup was both appetizing and rich at the same time.

Pot-Baked Souffle (with or without Beef)- RM26.80, the rice was pan-fried with butter and some homemade sauce together with beef slices and it was then covered with souffle and baked until perfection.

The usual souffle is sweet in taste but for this it tasted salty and very unique as the rice being used was Japanese rice, and the souffle is a French dessert, hence the concept of Miam Miam. This is a East meets West fusion. A very well and divine combination.

Overall, the style of cooking there is unique with East meets West concept. The taste of the food was “miam miam” and delectable. The ambiance was also very cozy and comfortable. The only drawback here is the price is on the high side. However, with such ambiance and unique taste of the food, I find it worth the money.
